Why do a lot of dieters have to suffer the perpetual frustration of losing weight, and then putting back on weight over and over again, while many others lose weight and do not have to worry about the kilos coming back again?

Would you not wish to be part of the latter rather than the former?

There are a few astonishingly simple practices of successful dieters - and you too can adapt these beneficial habits.

1) Ever heard of the old adage, “The scale does not matter while you are on a diet”?

For ages, experts spurned the thought of frequent weigh ins, remarking that the scale could be grossly inaccurate due to variations induced by water weight.

But, it actually turns out that regularly weighing yourself daily is in reality an excellent incentive for dieters.

A field of study in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine discovered that dieters who weighed themselves day-to-day experienced the most weight loss, and kept the weight off much more successfully, compared to other dieters who didn’t weigh themselves on a regular basis.

2) Put down all the food that you consume. The simple act of taking down everything that you consume is an incentive that helps keep yourself on track, hence you are less likely to overeat, according to fitness experts.

3) Discover an activity that you enjoy, even if it is merely walking your dog, cycling, or tennis. And make sure you do it for a minimum of a couple of times a week. It will accelerate the process of weight loss, make you fitter, and it has also been proven that dieters who exercise the most are also the most efficient at keeping the pounds off.

4) Plan ahead. When you plan to dine out with friends, go to an office party or catching a movie, what will you do when you get struck by the hunger pangs? Be sure that you have consumed a fulfilling, non fattening meal or snack in advance and determine what, if anything, you’ll eat at the cinema, party or whatever, prior to the actual event.

5) Allow and plan the occasional indulgence for yourself. Whenever you know that you are entitled to an ice cream or brownie treat once weekly, even half a plate of pasta, or whatever other craving that you might have, you’re a lot less likely to gorge. You can also be sure that is the day when you add in even more exercise to your regime.

The effects of green tea have long been associated with weight loss. That notion has only gained even more ground over the years as scientists and doctors discover more amazing facts of green tea and how it can benefit us. Back in 2004, the green tea diet first became renowned globally when it was mentioned on the award winning Oprah television show.

Dr Nigel Perricone, highly popular author of various numerous health and dieting books, had a guest appearance on Oprah’s show. It was then that he introduced the world to the countless advantages and health benefits of green tea - weight loss, anti-aging, increased metabolism, higher fat oxidation, etc.

He had wrote in his book, “The Perricone Prescription”, that if we replaced coffee with green tea instead, we could lose up to 10 pounds in six weeks. That statement went on to create such a hype that health and weight enthusiasts started to take notice of the much underestimated benefits of it.

Oprah has also been reported to say that green tea is very much a part of her diet. The Green Tea Diet has helped her attain her weight loss and dieting goals, a problem that has been bothering Oprah for a very long time, as her faithful fans would testify. Other than that, it has also done her health and well-being a world of good.

Some other facts of the Green Tea Diet:

* Cancer Prevention

* Anti-aging

* Increased metabolism

* Increased fat oxidation

* Appetite suppressant

* Caffeine substitute for coffee, minus the calories

While the benefits are aplenty, adopting the green tea diet is by no means the magic formula for instant weight loss. It would not help at all, if you are going to indulge on junk food and stick to your 5000 calories a day diet. It is important to bear in mind that a healthy and balanced diet is still the benchmark.

So what is the optimal amount of green tea to consume in order enjoy the health benefits? Experts have varying opinions, but the general consensus is 3 - 5 cups per day. That would be equivalent to burning an extra 70 calories per day, or 7 pounds per year. However, if you find that 3 - 5 cups per day is too much, tea extract, tea pills or a tea patch are equally viable alternatives.

Are you a firm believer of low calorie diets and the wonders that they can do for you? If you do not already know, most diets have been proven not to work. You are definitely not alone if you have tried out all sorts of diets but have not seen any weight loss. Most people have the same problem when it comes to weight loss - they do not have the slightest clue what purpose the diets serve and they just follow it blindly.

The key here is knowledge, and understanding the relationship between fat gain, fat loss, and the truth behind your diet. Once you see the link between those factors, you will realize that your efforts are much more targeted, and you will see weight loss in a completely different and most importantly, easy light altogether! The first and foremost reason why Low Calorie Diets do not work is that most of the time, your body is malnourished. You do not have sufficient energy because of the low calorie foods, and your daily work schedule is affected as a result. You feel tired, lethargic, and definitely not feeling better than before you started on the diet.

Bear in mind these two points, if you want to lose weight successfully:

First, calories are NOT the culprit to fat gain. In fact, they give your body its much needed nutrition and energy. With sufficient food, your metabolism rate is increased and that eventually helps in weight loss. That is of course not saying that the more calories you have, the more weight you will lose. The magic formula here is: You must burn more calories than you take in. Eat less, not nothing.

Second, eating the right food. Skip the fast food and any other snack that you think you should not be eating. Have more protein-rich foods. Protein builds muscles and muscles burn lots of calories. In addition, protein makes you feel full, so you won’t go hungry that quickly. Perfect news for those who succumb to temptations and tend to overeat easily.

It’s really that simple - Understanding how diets work and how your body breaks down calories and fat. See the link now? Low calorie diets not only do not help you lose weight, it might even cause you to put on a few pounds!
